John Scheman

For over 30 years, Grupo Do It has led property development in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Founder and President John Scheman launched the company in 1994, beginning with the design and development of Vistas del Pacífico, where he built roads, power systems, water infrastructure, and residential lots by hand.

As one of the true pioneers of Guanacaste’s property development, John Scheman has played a central role in the region’s transformation from an agricultural province into a thriving hub for tourism, infrastructure, and investment.

Now a U.S.-Costa Rican dual citizen, Scheman is the Founder and President of Grupo Do It and Ciudad Nya, and has led other major projects that have transformed Guanacaste into a hub for tourism, commerce, and sustainable living. At its core, Grupo Do It brings together deep local experience, real estate expertise, and a big-picture mindset to shape lasting, community-centered developments across Costa Rica.

Through the Do It Foundation, a Scheman Family Foundation, he has also distributed 30,000+ wheelchairs to families in need and continues to support public schools, health initiatives, and environmental conservation. John is also the proud father of six Costa Rican-born children and five dogs.
